9001 Baby Showers

Okay, not quite. I currently know 5 women that are expecting (my niece was just born two weeks ago - but my SIL was the 6th..). That is a LOT of baby showers to prep for! I have been diligent about shopping sales and saving things up well in advance. I have also been entering giveaways on some AWESOME blogs. (www.mommieswithcents.com for one)

I'm not a lucky person by nature (never win raffles or have any luck gambling, etc). But, I've been diligent and guess what?? I won my first pair of ADORABLE baby shoes!! F-R-E-E. Woohoo!

Now, which one of my lucky girlfriends expecting a boy are going to get these little gems??

Fail.

My plan was to update on my weight loss progress each week. Notice how I didn't give an update yesterday? Yeah, that's because I fail. I've had a few... 'setbacks' (AKA a big bbq with our pals and J's birthday dinner at the good ol' Red Lobster). I'm pretty sure it's water weight because we had a few drinks. At least that's what I'm telling myself. So, tomorrow there will be a weight update - whether I like it or not!

30DS - Day 5

Even though we've only done the video 5 times I feel like it is getting easier. I hate to say it, because I'm scared as all holy hell, but I think we might be ready for the dreaded LEVEL 2.

So, if you don't hear from me tomorrow send the search party to house. I'll be the overweight one passed out on the carpet downstairs. kthanks.

Monday's Suck

I may need to make this a weekly revisit because I find myself bitching about Monday's almost every week. This weekend was really busy so I think this Monday is particularly shit-tastic because I didn't get a break to relax after the hectic week we had last week.

J and I have a rental house that has currently been on the market for 4 weeks. We've dropped the price twice and there has been LOTS of interest, but no apps. As I was venting to my dear friend Mrs. O, paying the mortgage on two houses SUCKS. Especially when you are looking at doing it for a second month in a row. It is really eating up our savings, which of course we were working hard on to do things like pay for our future child(ren). (My feelings on the incredibly ridiculous cost of childcare can wait for another day.)

Just in case you were wondering, Me + Rental Mortgage + Rental 2nd Mortgage + Our Mortgage = bat shit crazy. You know, just for future reference. Especially when I come home late afternoon yesterday (Sunday) exhausted after a long weekend birthday parties and baby showers to my husband telling me that there is yard work to be done at the rental. Which, of course he couldn’t do himself while I was gone all day, because it takes two people to load the truck with a full yard waste bin, mower, etc. Oh, and a friendly reminder that he was leaving for the coast Monday morning at 2:30AM for work and would be back probably late Tuesday night. I can’t believe I forgot about that.

Did I mention that Monday’s suck? Yes, I do believe that I covered that.

30 Day Shred - Day 1

Mr. S (AKA - J) and I started the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels today. I've heard a lot of chatter about it recently so we decided we'd give it a go. We started with level one and I can see what people mean - Jillian's a pain in the ass, literally!

A wee bit of background. Since J and I got together I've had the unfortunate experience of gaining approx 70lbs. To be honest, I've never been thin. I'd say I have an 'athletic' build (you know, broad shoulders and hips). I look healthy, feel the best, and am most 'fit' at around 160-165, which is where I started. So if you're a math whiz, than you've already figured it out... I maxed out just over 230. Thankfully the year leading up to our wedding I was able to lose 32lbs. I'm almost halfway there! But, like most people that struggle with eating right and exercising, I've hit a rut. I've been lacking motivation. I'm finally starting to get ramped back up and it really helps that J is going to do it with me!

I'm starting now at 204.5. Thankfully I'm still eating pretty well and haven't gained any additional weight since this summer. My goal is to lose 10lbs by the end of May. 5+ weeks. I think that is a reasonable goal and something I can attain if we stick to the plan. My long term goal is to get under 170. The plan involves doing The Shred 5 days a week and walking/jogging with the dog on the other two days. That gives us a bit of activity every day.

Let the shredding begin!

Welcome!

I've decided to start a blog to use as a journal. Not an original idea, but a good one none the less. My plan is to come here mostly to talk about my life as a newlywed (I married Mr. S the summer of 2008), our quest to try and start a family, losing weight, etc. Basically whatever happens to be going on that day! So, welcome! Let the chaos begin...
